The Ability to Plow
Since I haven't had any "real" updates to HB BayArea nor have I really had any FRs that are noteworthy, I decided to write about the all important ability to plow.
Many times, we, as guys and rAFCs, tend to eject out of a set when the opener doesn't hook. I know that I was guilty of this many a times when I first started sarging. I would open the set, the opener would only get a mild response, and then I would eject. I kept hearing about guys just plowing and getting girls to open up.
I didn't think this could possibly work. Just keep talking to girls after they don't seem interested in talking to me? How was this logical?
Well, it actually is. Girls are not sure what your agenda is and what type of guy you may be when you approach them. In order to show girls that you're just a normal guy, you have to be able to talk about yourself, tell them stories about yourself, and basically, just show that you're a normal guy.
You can't just ask them questions. These interactions should not be interrogations. They should start out 80/20 with you providing 80% of the conversation and your target providing 20%. It should then move toward 50/50 and then maybe even to 40/60. This is how all of your conversations should evolve.
Recently, I was winging for a friend and he opened this set of 3 girls. His opener didn't stick well and he asked me to come help him. I was introduced and could tell the girls were not very receptive. I began to plow, just talking about how I felt being at the club, the situation. I talked more about myself and my background. Slowly, you could see the girls' shields being lowered and them becoming more open to having a conversation with us. Unfortunately, my friend didn't really have anything to say and he ejected for both of us by saying, "well, it was nice to meet you guys" and then dragging me out of there.
In any case, the point of that short story is that even when a set seems cold and unreceptive, the set is not dead. All it requires is some balls and some interesting stories to tell to open them up. If you are not afraid of the social awkwardness that follows a failed opener, then plowing is definitely something I think all aspiring PUAs need to learn and master. It will increase your success rate and lead you to having more longer and interesting conversations with women.
